Professional & Peer Tutoring

Peer Tutors are Macon State College students who can provide assistance to those individuals needing help with a wide variety of courses taught here at the college.

Peer Tutors have a high academic grade in the courses they tutor and are recommended by their professors. Tutoring sessions are free of charge and available to all currently enrolled MSC students.

The professional tutors in the ARC are highly trained and provide continuity to our tutorial offerings. Our professional tutors can assist in a wide range of subjects as well as helping you improve your study skills and habits.

Seeking tutorial help immediately often gets the semester off to a smoother and more successful beginning. Students are encouraged to schedule tutoring appointments in advance. Group Study Rooms

There are 13 small- and large-group study rooms in the Macon ARC and three study rooms in the Warner Robins ARC. The rooms all have whiteboards and some have computer terminals for group work. The rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis for study groups of two or more. Additional usage rules and procedures are listed in the rooms.

Open-Use Computer Lab

There are 148 computers housed in the Macon Academic Resource Center and 51 workstations in the Warner Robins ARC. Our computers are HP Compaq machines and were newly installed for fall semester 2009. These computers are connected to the Internet and are loaded with software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. We also have adaptive technology workstations at each campus and four Macintosh computers in the Macon ARC.

Math Videos for Checkout

Math videotapes and grammar audiotapes are available for checkout in the Academic Resource Center. All currently enrolled MSC students may check out tapes. Available subjects include:

• Math 0097 and Math 0099 videos
• Math 1111 and Math 1113 videos
• TI-83 Calculator Instructional videos

To check out a video, just bring your student ID and come to the ARC in the Library building.

Regent's Test Information

If you need assistance preparing for the Regents' Test, please make an appointment with one of our tutors. We can give individualized assistance to help you prepare for this very important test
